Letters and manuscript sent to M. Walter, 1927-1931.

The collection comprises 8 letters and a fifteen-page typed manuscript "Noir et blanc," addressed by Georges Rouault to Monsieur Walter, publisher at the house of Quatre Chemins, between 1927 and 1931. The manuscript and several of the letters are signed; two letters include lengthy poems, and two contain notes written by the artist's daughter, Isabelle Rouault. The manuscript and several of the letters are heavily edited and annotated.
